Hackathon Participation Rules

1. Participants must be at least 18 years old to join our hackathon. There are no restrictions on nationality or educational background.

2. Registration is required by 11:59 PM EST on February 11, 2025. You could form your team yourself, in our discord channel or onsite at MIT. Each team must have at most 6 members, and all members need to register before the deadline.

3. Participation can be either onsite at MIT or virtual. Onsite participation is strongly encouraged to take full advantage of activities such as AI workshops, AI Summit, Career Fair, Demo, Screening and Award Ceremony onsite.

4. Preparations may begin as early as January 1, 2025 after registration. You are also welcomed to continue working on the film after the hackathon and used for other purposes.

5. Our events welcome both participants and general audience attending the Summit and Screening at MIT Media Lab on February 16.

Film Submission Rules

1. Theme Relevance

Your film should explore the 2025 theme “Dance in Life”.

2. AI Relevance

Your film should incorporate at least one AI technology from our Sponsors. (Free Credits will be provided)

3. Length

Your film should be 2-5 minutes long.

4. Originality

Your film should be created specifically for this hackathon and not previously submitted in other events, film festivals, or competitions.

5. Content

Your film is appropriate for the general public, and does not contain inappropriate or unlawful materials.

6. Copyright

Your team has all rights necessary to submit the Film, including without limitation, the title or rights in any content, trademarks, artwork, text, and/or music featured in the Film Submission.

7. Acknowledgment

Your film should include a credit for the “2025 MIT AI Filmmaking Hackathon & MIT Filmmakers Association” and all used AI tools at the end of the film. Adding our logos (see below) at the end of the film is highly encouraged.

8. Publicity

By submission, you grant the MIT AI Filmmaking Hackathon and its sponsors and collaborators the right and license to use, distribute, and publicly display the film and related information for use in advertising and marketing, without any additional approval or consideration.

9. Overdue

The submission process requires detailed information and takes more than 10 minutes.

Please plan accordingly. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.

10. Completeness

Incomplete films, as determined by our committee, will not be screened to maintain the quality of the event.
